The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Ice Cream Sandwich update roll out has apparently begun with several variants of the device reportedly receiving the update.
Specifically, owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the United Kingdom can now update their tablet with Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, owners of the Wi-Fi model in Italy can also upgrade their Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Ice Cream Sandwich starting today.
Both updates are available Over-the-Air as well as through Samsung Kies and either update process will take quite awhile as this is a large update that not only needs to be downloaded but installed as well.
The Galaxy Tab 8.9 remains without Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich at the moment.
Those who own these tablets on carriers in America, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 included, have not yet seen the upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and as of yet, there is no time table for those updates to roll out.
The Wi-Fi models generally get the upgrades first which are then followed by the cellular variants.
In any event, this roll out is great news for Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners in both the UK and Italy and Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners in general as upgrades for other regions should not be too far behind.
The update to Ice Cream Sandwich will bring the Galaxy Tab 10.1 new ICS features including the new user interface, new Browser, Face Unlock and a whole lot more.
