Android smartphone and tablet users that always want the latest and greatest, fast updates and fancy features often have Nexus smartphones and tablets. If you're like me and want the latest of everything as soon as possible, download or install Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Along with everything else that changed and improved in Android 7.0, this 7.1.1 update delivers even more. Those with a Nexus device will enjoy app shortcuts, which is similar to 3DTouch. Long-press icons on your homescreen for quick access to things. Tap n hold the camera to instantly take a selfie or record video, rather than opening the app and fumbling through settings. These are shortcuts to specific tasks inside apps right form the homescreen. Other changes include battery life, bug fixes, tons of emoji (especially for women or people of color), GIF support in the keyboard, security patches and more. There aren't tons of new features, but more than enough to make it worthwhile. Pixel owners will enjoy some new "Moves" options in gestures and other things. |
