Spreadtweet: A Twitter Client that Looks Like Excel

Published

on

About the only things that multiply faster than flatulence apps for the iPhone are Twitter clients. Not a day goes by that we don’t see or hear of a new one it seems. Well this one classifyies as clever and spunky (and possibly illegal).

Spreadtweet is designed for those who can’t use Twitter in their office environments. It looks like an Excel spreadsheet and all of your Tweets come in via rows and columns. It runs on the Adobe Air platform.

As the developer says, he’s not sure if this is legal or not, so you’re on your own.

By illegal do you mean, it would be against some company policies? Or are you talking about stealing styles or something from MS by looking like Excel?

    The latter.

I can’t see any reason why it would be illegal. It doesn’t look like Microsoft Excel at all past the fact that it’s a tabled list, but by that logic everything with a table would be illegal.

It’s a Twitter Client the same as any other client, so can’t be illegal there either given that it runs on an established, public API.

It may violate company policy, however, in which case you’re more of an HR risk than legal risk.
