Sprint Galaxy Note 2 Release Date Gets Closer

We still don’t know when Sprint or U.S. Cellular will release the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 but we now know that their release dates just got a little bit closer.

According to Engadget, both devices passed through the FCC today on their way to the carrier’s respective 4G LTE networks with Sprint’s device passing through as the SPH-L900 and the U.S. Cellular model coming through the FCC with a model number of SCH-R950. Sprint’s Galaxy Note 2 has been known to be the SPH-L900 so it’s clear that these are U.S. bound Galaxy Note 2’s.

An FCC filing doesn’t mean that the devices will arrive tomorrow but it does bode well for an unveiling and release date announcement at an October 24th event where Samsung is rumored to be launching the Galaxy Note 2 in the United States. The fact that all five devices are now through the FCC means that we could see specific release dates announced.

The Galaxy Note 2 will arrive on Sprint and U.S. Cellular soon.

Recently, the Galaxy Note 2 variants for AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon moved through the FCC as well with the biggest news being the fact that the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 features support for the network’s upcoming 4G LTE network which is set to launch in 2013.

All five devices are expected to be exactly the same in terms of hardware and software. It will feature a 5.5-inch screen with HD quality resolution a quad-core processor, 4G LTE data speeds, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean right out of the box. The Galaxy Note 2 also features an S-Pen that allows users to write and draw directly on the screen.

As of right now, the release dates for all five devices remain uncertain though we suspect we will hear something on October 24th considering U.S. Cellular has the device up for pre-order and all five devices have now been approved by the FCC.

Pricing for the Galaxy Note 2 in the U.S. looks to be $299.99 on-contract.
