Sprint iPhone for Life Price Jumps With a Big Bonus

Published

on

The Sprint iPhone for Life will soon offer faster upgrades with a new higher price that is great news for consumers who live in Sprint coverage and want to upgrade to a new iPhone every year, starting with the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus.

The original Sprint iPhone for Life plan, shown in many TV ads with screeching women and broken glass caught the attention of enough consumers that the carrier announced plans for a new iPhone for life plan.

Sprint’s new iPhone for Life plan announcement puts down the Verizon Edge plan which offers upgrades at the 18 month mark instead of 12 months like Sprint’s new iPhone for Life plan.

This is not the end to the $70 a month Sprint iPhone lease program, which Sprint will continue to offer for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus as well as the iPhone 5s. The new plan options start on November 14th.

The $80 Sprint iPhone for Life plan adds an extra $120 to the cost of the plan per year, which isn’t much considering the option to upgrade to the new iPhone every year soon after it is available.

The Sprint iPhone for Life plan now offers annual upgrades.

The Sprint iPhone for Life plan now offers annual upgrades.

If you choose one of the Sprint iPhone for Life plans, here’s how it works when you want to upgrade to the new iPhone next year.

  • Turn in the current leased device and lease another phone with zero down at signing
  • Purchase the leased iPhone
  • Continue leasing on a month-to-month basis
  • Or, when the lease ends the customer has the option to return the device in good working condition and terminate service

If you carry through to the end of the lease you can keep the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus, otherwise you will need to give Sprint the iPhone when you upgrade. This removes the option to sell the iPhone on your own or take advantage of any trade-in deals to upgrade next year when Apple delivers a new iPhone.

You can sign up for the new Sprint iPhone for Life plan starting November 14th in stores or online.
