EA DICE is celebrating Star Wars Day with some freebies for Star Wars Battlefront players on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
Star Wars Battlefront experienced a little bit of a lull after the Outer Rim DLC release in March and April but the game, and its developer, have sprung back to life this spring.
Earlier this year, the company confirmed a bunch of new content for the spring. EA DICE also confirmed plans to release its next Battlefront DLC add-on, Bespin, sometime in June. Bespin follows Outer Rim with new heroes, items, and more.
The company’s also rolling out free updates to Star Wars Battlefront. Earlier this week it pushed out a May Star Wars Battlefront update and today it’s pushing out new content to go along with those bug fixes and tweaks.
Today is Star Wars Day. And to celebrate EA DICE is offering some rewards to Xbox One, PS4 and PC players. Here’s what you need to know about those May the Fourth bonuses.
Login, Get 4000+ Credits
If you own a copy of Star Wars Battlefront, today would be a good day to log in to the game.
If you log into the game today, you’ll receive 4,444 credits to put toward blasters, Star Cards, or the latest Hutt Contract.” This is big for those still straggling on lower ranks, trying to reach the game’s level cap of 60.
The generous offer expires on May 5th at 2AM PT so you only have a few hours to claim your free prize.
New Hutt Contract
Earlier this year, EA DICE introduced Hutt Contracts, a new way to earn items and experience. Today, the developer’s added a brand new Contract to the mix.
If you successfully spend enough credits and complete the required bounties, you’ll unlock a brand new Star Card to use.
That Star Card is the Bacta Bomb, one of the items EA DICE confirmed in its spring content announcements.
The Bacta Bomb isn’t going to do thousands of damage to your enemies. Instead, it’s focused on healing you and your allies.
When thrown, the bomb canister produces a mist that not only heals but also provides an additional health boost on top of your character’s normal health.
If you want to watch an eight minute video outlining the card and some strategies, watch the Bacta Bomb in action above.
Origin Free Trial
If you haven’t bought Star Wars Battlefront yet, you can log in to EA Origin and try the game out for four hours before you buy.
It’s worth noting that the free trial only includes the original portion of the game. It doesn’t include the Outer Rim expansion and the content it delivered earlier this year.
New Star Wars Battlefront Update
EA DICE promised a new update this week and the developer delivered today (May 11th).
The company has rolled out a new server-side update for Battlefront. Server-side means that you won't have to download anything. EA DICE implemented the changes on its end.
Included is a fix for a nagging issue in Heroes versus Villains and a change to the hero selection timer in the HvV mode. Here's the full change log:
- Increased the hero selection timer on Heroes vs Villains to address an issue where matches would start with no Heroes or Villains.
- Applied a fix for a bug that was causing crashes in Heroes vs. Villains.
