T-Mobile Galaxy S III Jelly Bean Update Leaks Out

The Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for the T-Mobile Galaxy S III, also known as the T999, has leaked out today providing those want to install the update early a chance to do so.

The update was found on XDA-Developers forums by Android Police and it will take T-Mobile owners from Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean assuming the device is rooted and assuming that owners are able to adhere to some instructions.

There are also a few bugs and it seems that owners will have to be on a stock build of T999UVALH2. Owners can make sure in the device’s About section in the settings.

Of course, this is an early build of the software which means that it’s not going to be the final version that T-Mobile rolls out to the device when the time comes. That means that novice device owners and those who aren’t skilled at installing ROMs should just avoid it and wait for the official roll out.

Those who are indeed skilled at this sort of thing now have the opportunity to get hands-on with Jelly Bean ahead of its release date.

It appears that the software could break root and it looks like Wi-Fi connectivity is screwy and Google Now isn’t playing nice just yet. It also looks like the overall nature of the software is a bit sluggish.

The news comes shortly before August 29th, the day that Samsung is rumored to be rolling out the Galaxy S III Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. That update will likely come for the international version with carrier variants to follow at a later date.

If this indeed does happen, it likely means that the Galaxy S III variants in the United States will likely see their updates arrive long after the initial roll out.

Samsung itself has yet to confirm anything but multiple reports claim August 29th is the day so it’s looking good.
