This Unofficial Samsung Galaxy Note Ad is Fantastic

At first, I wasn’t a big fan of Samsung Mobile’s first Super Bowl advertisement which promoted the company’s 5.3-inch hybrid device, the Samsung Galaxy Note. However, the more I watched it, the more I liked it. It took me a grand total of one viewing to like this next Galaxy Note ad, which was not made by Samsung and does not feature the likes of NFL players and rock stars.

This new unofficial ad was done by two people named Iris and Peter, who may or may not be the stars of the video.

Sure, there’s some embellishing but even Apple ads might be guilty of a little of that.

The advertisement centers around a girl who gets her purse stolen and attempts to track down the thief using her Galaxy Note. The commercial shows off the main features of the device.

We the stylus in action as she is able to snap a photo of the guy who stole her purse and then, from that photo, she is able to draw a picture of her mugger to show to the police. They eventually track him down and well, there’s a little of a twist at the end that I won’t spoil for you.

For me though, it’s not the plot that is amazing it’s how they incorporated the device into the plot all while showing off the device’s many capabilities. Often, tech companies fail to do this.

They also don’t usually have The Chemical Brothers as a backing soundtrack either.

While this is clearly too long for a regular old advertisement, I think companies like Samsung would be smart to take a look at this and take some pointers.

What do you guys think?

Much better than this Galaxy Note commercial I’d say.

i think it sucks. But the thing I wonder is when the Galaxy Note 10.1 will be released with the Wacom digitizer. Hope that will be the killer tablet for me.

It’s not a good ad. And I’ll tell you why I think so. It does not show a real life / realistic scenario. At least in the first part of the ad where she is drawing a person who just stole her handbag.

The demographic I believe is not the youth. It’s more for business types according to Samsung. I disagree somewhat with that. But if you go with their thinking, then the marketing needs to be aligned with business objectives. In the case of the iPod, it appealed to the youth demographic with cool advertising.  The Samsung galaxy tab is another annoying commercial. They just can’t get their marketing right.

The only good practical thing I saw was lost where a person’s pic is cropped out with the stylus.

Samsung should allow customers to use NATIVE ICS … as an option. And fire the idiots who are preventing this.

Go to youtube and search for Galaxy note note to remember by Saad Rabia. Now that is a clever ad. It conveys the size USP slickly and not the stylus.
