Top 5 Phones to Consider Before Buying the Galaxy S4 [August, 2014]

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is no longer a flagship but it’s still an extremely solid smartphone option and one that you should certainly take a look at before settling on a new device in August. That said, we think there are five phones that you absolutely must weigh before committing to the aging Samsung Galaxy S4 this month.

Last year, Samsung took the stage under the bright lights in New York City and announced the Galaxy S4, a brand new Galaxy S smartphone and one that replaced the extremely popular Galaxy S3 on shelves. The device did not do as well as Samsung had hoped but that doesn’t change the fact that the Galaxy S4 was one of the year’s top smartphones.

It’s a year older now but the Galaxy S4 is still a solid option for those that don’t need the top specs, aren’t in the love with the Galaxy S5, and don’t want to shell out a ton of cash for a device on or off-contract. And with a Galaxy S4 Android L update likely coming in the future, the Galaxy S4 is a device that we think is worth considering. Just make sure you consider some other devices first.

We are constantly bombarded with questions about which phones to buy. In particular, we’re constantly asked about the phones consumers should weigh against the Samsung Galaxy S4. There are a number of different devices that we could recommend, the smartphone market is full of solid choices, but we want to narrow things down a bit and take a look at what we consider to be the top five.

These phones represent the devices that we’d recommend to friends and family. And while our list may differ from yours, these are the devices that Gotta Be Mobile editors have selected for recognition this month. We feel like the devices listed here deliver the best, all-around package for this month and this month alone.

That said, here are the top five smartphones to consider before buying the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Without question, the first smartphone that prospective Samsung Galaxy S4 buyers will want to take a look at is the company's current flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Samsung's Galaxy S5 offers some big upgrades including a dust and water resistant design, tons of storage space, a fantastic camera, beautiful display, and more. It also offers some notable software changes including a new Ultra Power Saving mode that helps users conserve battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is available for cheap through retailers like Amazon, not as cheap as the Galaxy S4 but cheap nonetheless, making it worthy of your attention in the month of August and beyond.

I already have Galaxy S5 from last 4 months and like its water resistant body and 2800mAh battery with power saving mode. My father have iPhone 5S and my wife have Galaxy S4. So we have both Android as well as iOs based Smartphones and to keep these devices charged simultaneously I recently purchased a 6 port USB Charger with auto detection feature.

Forget about it. Let’s leave Samsung, they don’t respect their customers. When it comes to updates, they’re really very slow. I’ve had the same experience that many others explain everywhere in other forums, my T Mobile S4 is a piece of crap after it was updated to kitkat 4.4.2 last february 14, 2014, I hate the phone and I’m willing to update it to 4.4.3 or 4.4.4 in order to see if it improves. I wish I could downgrade it to the oldest android version it had when I bought it. We have to move to Motorola, Nexus, HTC or whatever other phones, but Samsung SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
