The Toshiba Excite A200 is dubbed the world’s thinnest tablet and is now appearing on the company’s official web portal in Canada. The Excite succeeds the feature-rich, but bulky Thrive tablet, and the new Honeycomb slate will be arriving in January 2012.
The release date, however, is still uncertain. Though Toshiba Canada is listing the tablet as arriving January 2012, Mobile Syrup claims to have it on direct authority that the Excite will be landing instead in February. Whatever the case, the Excite will be coming in early 2012.
The Excite will definitely stir some excitement for those looking for a slim, sleek, and light tablet. The device is only 7.7 mm thich, which is thinner than the Galaxy S II smartphone by Samsung.
Powering the Toshiba Excite is a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor from Texas Instruments. The tablet comes with a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a 1280 X 800 resolution 10.1-inch display, micro HDMI port, and either 16 or 32 GB of internal storage. Additionally, a micro SDHC card slot is also supported on the tablet, giving users the option to augment their storage capacity at a later date.
