Verizon Galaxy S5 Price Cut Too Good to Last

Published

on

The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 emerged on Amazon today with a deeply discounted price but within hours, the Verizon Galaxy S5 sold out and it’s not clear when the device, or deal, is coming back.

When Verizon announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 and its release date last week, the carrier pegged the device with a familiar April 11th release date and $199.99 on-contract price tag. This is similar to the dates and prices used across the board by major U.S. carriers planning to stock the Samsung Galaxy S5.

Like AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular, Verizon put the Galaxy S5 up for pre-order ahead of its release this Friday, giving those who are already sold on Samsung’s new Galaxy S a chance to order the device early. Verizon isn’t the only place where Galaxy S5 buyers can pre-order the carrier’s version of Samsung’s Next Big Thing.

While retailers like Best Buy, Target and RadioShack are all offering Verizon Galaxy S5 pre-orders, Amazon’s Verizon Galaxy S5 pre-order that recently emerged was the sweetest of them all.

Earlier today, the Verizon Galaxy S5 was on sale for $99.

Earlier today, the Verizon Galaxy S5 was on sale for $99. It’s possible that it will bring the deal back once it gets more stock.

Instead of $199.99 on-contract, the retailer was offering the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 at $99.99 on-contract. That’s $100 cheaper than the Galaxy S5 price through Verizon and $90 cheaper than the AT&T and Sprint Galaxy S5 models that are up for pre-order through Amazon. Problem is, the device is already out of stock.

Amazon is currently sold out of the Verizon Galaxy S5. The device’s landing page says that it’s currently unavailable and that it doesn’t know when, or even if it will be back in stock. We imagine that Amazon will bring the Verizon Galaxy S5 back at some point but it’s not clear if it will offer the same $99 deal that was available earlier today.

An Amazon customer service representative told us that the “items that were stock have sold already” which points to a sell out.

Those who are in the market for a Verizon Galaxy S5 would be smart to keep an eye on Amazon’s listing as we inch closer to the Galaxy S5’s release date. It’s possible that the retailer will bring the device back for a second round.

Verizon’s Galaxy S5 will join the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and U.S. Cellular models on shelves on April 11th and it will replace the carrier’s Galaxy S4, the flagship Galaxy S from last year.

The new Galaxy S5 features a brand new 5.1-inch display, high-powered Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, 16MP camera with fast autofocus, a design that is both water and dust resistant, Android 4.4 KitKat, and an assortment of upgrades to the company’s TouchWiz user interface. The device, like all flagship smartphones, will run on the company’s massive 4G LTE network.
