Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 Update Release Set for December

Published

on

It has been several weeks since the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile HTC One variants received their upgrade to Android 4.3, something that has left Verizon HTC One owners looking for answers. And while we expected the Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 update to roll out in November, HTC now says that it will be rolling out in early December, no specific date given.

All the way back in August, HTC made a pledge to HTC One owners in the United States. The pledge was that the HTC One Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update would roll out across carriers by the end of September. However, when the end of September came, HTC backed off of its promise and said that owners would start to see the software roll out in October.

Sure enough, the roll out for the Sprint HTC One arrived in early October while the AT&T and T-Mobile HTC One variants saw their Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates arrive in the middle of October. HTC promised that the Verizon HTC One update would roll out by the end of October. The end of October then arrived and HTC once again stated that it would need more time for the Verizon HTC One Android 4.3 update.

Just a short time ago, HTC finally updated owners on the progress of the update. The company says that it is planning to roll out the software at some point in early December, no date given, and that the roll out does not impact the progress of the Android 4.4 KitKat update which has been promised by the end of January. HTC says that a maintenance update, which appeared earlier this week, will set the device up for next month’s update.

Obviously, December is not what Verizon HTC One users expected in August when HTC announced that all four major devices would be getting the software come September but this is unfortunately the reality of the situation. Users should be hopeful that HTC will be able to deliver not only in December but in January with the Android 4.4 KitKat update as its the latter of the two that brings the new Sense 5.5.
