One of the biggest selling points of Apple’s iPhone 4S is Siri, the voice-activated virtual assistant that can give you directions, help you text a friend or help you plan your daily schedule. Well, Motorola wants you to know that there is a feature on Android that can do those things as well. And, if you believe Motorola, it can do them better then Siri can.
In a series of videos, Motorola has pitted Android’s built-in Voice Actions against Siri in a series of tests. Those tests depict some of the more common things that iPhone and Android users use these features for.

Things like getting directions, texting friends and, you guessed it, setting up a daily schedule.
The first video shows the iPhone 4S next to the Motorola Electrify. The focus here is, of course, not the phones themselves, but the software on board. In the first test, a robotic voice asks both Voice Actions and Siri to text an individual, get directions to a specific location, produce a note that reminds the user to pick up dry cleaning, and go to Motorola.com.
The other two videos, depicting the iPhone 4S against the Motorola Atrix 2 and the Photon 4G, show off the same tasks. This highlights the fact that Voice Actions are available on many phones, not just one. Remember, Siri is only available on the iPhone 4S
In every single test, Voice Actions gets the job done faster then Siri. Motorola even saw it fit to add a bell noise into the video, the same kind of noise you might hear at a boxing match, to signify those victories.
Something that Motorola didn’t mention though is the fact that Siri can respond to natural language. Voice Actions requires the user to use certain kinds of prompts like “Note to self” or “Navigate to.” Both of which you can see in the video.
Oh, and Voice Actions will never call you a ‘Rock God’ either.

However, if speed and availability are the qualities you look for in a virtual assistant, it appears that Voice Actions might be your ticket.
Voice Actions, believe it or not, aren’t new at all. In fact, Google introduced them to Android all the way back in 2010 while Siri arrived along with the iPhone 4S back in October of 2011.
