WiFi-Only Samsung Galaxy Tab Rumored for April 4th Release

The WiFi-only edition of Samsung’s 7-inch Android 2.2 Froyo tablet with the company’s proprietary TouchWiz UI is slated to come on April 4th with a price tag of $400 according to a leak. The tablet, which is smaller than the iPad–about half the size of the display area of the iPad, will cost about $100 less than the base WiFi-only iPad 2 with 16 GB of memory built-in.

For comparison, the WiFi-only Motorola Xoom, which runs on a tablet-specific of Android, called Android 3.0 Honeycomb, will launch for $600. That device is comparable to the iPad 2 and has a comparable screen size, dual-core CPU powered by NVIDIA, and both front- and rear-facing cameras. The Galaxy Tab 7-inch only has a single-core Hummingbird CPU.
