HTC ThunderBolt Wireless Charging Battery Cover Shows Up on Verizon.com
The HTC Thunderbolt has a battery problem, but one way to address it would be with a wireless charger for the HTC Thunderbolt. We had heard rumors about an Inductive battery cover for the HTC Thunderbolt which could wirelessly charge the device much like Powermat chargers, but we hadn’t seen official proof until this evening when we found the ThunderBolt Inductive Battery Cover on Verizon’s website for just $39.99.
The Thunderbolt inductive battery cover allows you to replace the existing battery cover with one that can charge your HTC ThunderBolt without any wires. The Thunderbolt Inductive Battery Cover has small hump to accommodate the wireless charging tech, but doesn’t look like it will add much bulk.
This accessory looks like it will work with the LG Wireless Charging Pad announced at CTIA which is expected to arrive in April for about $70.
While the Thunderbolt Inductive Battery Cover is online at Verizonwireless.com, you can’t yet order the cover or the charger. Given that it is online in several places, we wouldn’t be surprised to see wireless charging for the ThunderBolt soon. Hopefully there will be a bundle that includes the back and the charger for a more friendly $50 price, which is in line with numerous Powermat bundles.
For those interested, we have asked Powermat about a Powermat receiver for the HTC Thunderbolt, but have not heard back regarding availability plans.
The ThunderBolt wireless battery cover doesn’t show up in some locations, so we have attached the above screenshot .
