Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Release Delayed

Published

on

Samsung originally wanted to get the Galaxy Tab 2 tablets, which include the Tab 2 10.1 and the Tab 2 7.0, out during the month of March. Well it’s now April. and we haven’t seen a release. That’s because there has been a delay. Samsung has confirmed that it will instead be launching both tablets at the end of April. There’s a good reason though. It wants to upgrade the tablets to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

According to a report from Computer World, both Galaxy Tab 2 tablets will be hitting the U.K. sometime this month after Samsung and Google decided they needed more time to get Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich up and running.

Samsung did not specify exactly when the tablets would be put on shelves but we fully expect Samsung to give us specific release dates in the days ahead.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Release Delayed

Both devices were originally announced at the end of February at the Mobile World Congress as follow-ups to Samsung’s original Galaxy Tab devices.

As of right now, Samsung hasn’t announced whether it will bring either tablet to the United States. Again, the April launch only deals with a launch in the United Kingdom.

We do know that the 10.1 Galaxy Tab 2 passed through the FCC and has bands on board that are compatible with AT&T’s bands. So those that can’t wait for an official launch should be able to import one from overseas and get it to work here in the U.S.

The Galaxy Tab 2’s weren’t the only tablets that Samsung announced at MWC 2012 either.

The company also introduced the Galaxy Note 10.1, a tablet that, like the Galaxy Tab 2’s, doesn’t yet have an official release date.
