Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus Release Rumored

As 2015 comes to a close, we’re starting to hear more about upcoming smartphones for 2016. One that will likely be the most popular is the Samsung Galaxy S7. Early rumors of Samsung’s new phone appeared back in September, and over the course of the past month we’ve learned a lot about what to expect from the Galaxy S7.

This week though, more reports have surfaced that seem to echo early rumors that Samsung will be releasing at least three different Galaxy S7 smartphones. In fact, one will reportedly be a 6-inch Samsung Galaxy S7 Plus.

In 2015 Samsung released the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in April, then the Note 5 and a bigger Galaxy S6 Edge Plus with a 5.7-inch screen in August. Making it one of its biggest flagship devices ever released. Next year though, Samsung could go even bigger with the Galaxy S7 Plus.

Recently reports from the Wall Street Journal, Korean Times, and popular leaksters like @evleaks or @onleaks have all shared information, and now one more is confirming the same information they’ve shared. Which is that Samsung looks to offer a huge Galaxy S7 early next year.

Just like Apple has done for the past few years, and Google did this winter with the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, Samsung will be releasing two different versions and sizes of the popular Galaxy S7. Rumor has it that the company will unveil a 5.2-inch Samsung Galaxy S7, and a huge 6-inch Galaxy S7 Plus. Both will be nearly identical, with one having a much bigger display. The Samsung Galaxy Mega had a large 6-inch screen, but it was a mid-range phone with poor specs and wasn’t a flagship device.

Then, it if recent leaks are accurate a third smartphone will be a 5.5-inch Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and only come in that one size. A perfect middle ground with a fancy curved display similar to the Edge phones released in 2015.

Early rumors suggested we’d see a regular size and a Plus size of both the regular Galaxy S7 and the Edge, but now it’s sounding more and more like Samsung will release the three phones mentioned above.

This has been somewhat confirmed by a 3rd party case manufacturer, who reportedly received full details and dimensions of the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge, and Galaxy S7 Plus from Samsung in order to build cases and other accessories for the upcoming new flagship smartphone lineup.

The original Samsung Galaxy Note was the first “phablet” and Android devices have been getting bigger and bigger ever since. One research firm released info this holiday season that confirmed “phablet” sales were at an all-time high this Christmas, which shows a trend of users buying larger smartphones. If that’s any indication, Samsung’s three new smartphones for 2016 should all be rather popular.

From what we’re hearing the Galaxy S7 lineup will have a very similar look and feel as the Galaxy S6. That being an all aluminum and glass design, but with a few small changes. Some of those include a redesigned fingerprint scanner, a new Iris (eye) retina scanner for improved security, a better camera, faster charging with USB Type-C, a bigger battery (especially in the Galaxy S7 Plus) and more. However, it’s still to early to know exactly what to expect.

If all the reports, leaks and rumors are accurate, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be announced in February, and possibly released before the end of the month or in early March. Stay tuned for more details.
