Buy If You Want a Solid, Affordable Tablet

Samsung's Galaxy Tab A 10.1 models from 2016 are affordable mid-range devices. Unlike the Galaxy Tab S series, they won't break the bank. The Galaxy Tab A 10.5 follows in their footsteps.

If you're in the hunt for an affordable tablet that's perfect for browsing the web, answering emails, watching movies, and playing games, the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 is right up your alley.

The Galaxy Tab S4 starts at $650 while the Galaxy Tab A 10.5 should cost less than $400 in most regions. The LTE model will be a little more expensive, but most people should be fine working with Wi-Fi.

For less than $400 you'll get a big 10.5” WUXGA (1920×1200) TFT LCD display, a Snapdragon 450 Octa Core (1.8GHz) processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB or storage plus support for up to a 400GB microSD card, a 8MP rear camera with Autofocus, a 5MP front facing camera with Flash, USB 2.0 (Type C), and four speakers with Dolby Atmos (perfect for games and movies).

Of course, the price point comes with some tradeoffs like the lack of an S Pen stylus and the lack of an iris scanner. It doesn't even have a fingerprint sensor.

The Galaxy Tab S4 this is not, but it's worth a look if you don't need all of the bells and whistles and simply want a serviceable slate at a good price point.
