Android 2.2 Froyo Update Now Available for AT&T-Branded Dell Streak 5 Tablet

Published

on

The AT&T version Dell Streak 5, a 5-inch tablet-smartphone hybrid from Dell, is finally getting its upgrade to Android 2.2 Froyo, up from Android 1.6. While Dell has been offering the Android 2.2 Froyo upgrade on various variants of the 5-inch Dell Streak, the AT&T-locked and branded device is finally getting its treatment to Android 2.2, which brings with it support for Adobe Flash 10.1 Mobile along with a number of other improvements.

The update should start rolling out to owners of the AT&T Streak over the air, or eager users can visit Dell to check for the upgrade.

While waiting for the official Android 2.2 Froyo to appear, users of the Streak have resorted to rooting their devices and loading the Streak with custom ROMs of the Android 2.2 OS onto their devices. Now that an official solution is available, it should be relatively easy for the novice smartphone user to get the newer Android OS without having to root their devices.
