5 New Galaxy Note Edge Release Date Details

Published

on

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date continues to pick up speed as new Galaxy Note Edge release date info has emerged just days ahead of Samsung’s release in Japan on October 23rd.

In early September Samsung took the stage at its Unpacked event and announced a slew of new products including two new Galaxy Note models dubbed Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The Galaxy Note Edge will be the company’s high-end Galaxy model and one that’s expected to join the Galaxy Note 4 in select regions before the end of the year.

As we move further and further away from the Galaxy Note Edge launch date, we’re finally starting to see the release date take shape as Samsung and its carrier partners fill in the necessary blanks ahead of its arrival. And today, just a few short days ahead of the device’s initial October 23rd release in Japan, we’ve seen some new important Galaxy Note Edge release date details emerge.

Samsung India has, according to Android Central, confirmed the Galaxy Note Edge release date in India. This is the first time that Samsung’s confirmed a release for buyers and India, one of the largest smartphone markets in the world. India joins the U.S., UK, China, Japan, Australia, Canada, and Korea in Samsung’s limited Galaxy Note Edge release.

Sadly, the company did not confirm a specific Galaxy Note Edge release date for India other than to say that it will be arriving before the end of the year. It also did not confirm any details regarding pricing. The Galaxy Note Edge is a limited release concept and it’s expected to come with a price tag that’s higher than the Galaxy Note 4’s.

Galaxy Note Edge release date details have also emerged for Australia. According to CNET, the Galaxy Note Edge release date was initially scheduled for November 5th but it has now been pushed back a week, something that is becoming a bit of a trend for Samsung’s new Galaxy Notes. The Galaxy Note 4 release has also been pushed back a week in some places including the United Kingdom.

Samsung says that the Galaxy Note Edge release in Australia has been pushed to November 12th for unspecified reasons. For the moment, Australia is the only region impacted by this delay. It appears that pre-orders will still start soon though ahead of the Galaxy Note Edge’s new release date.

The U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date continues to creep closer as well. The AT&T and T-Mobile Galaxy Note Edge models have both passed through the FCC, a sign that the U.S. release is making progress behind the scenes. The Sprint and Verizon Galaxy Note Edge variants still have to receive their proper certifications before Samsung can announce specific release details.

Other regions like the UK and Canada will not get the Galaxy Note Edge at launch. Samsung Canada recently confirmed a Galaxy Note Edge release for 2015 while Samsung UK remains tight lipped about its release. UK based retailers have told consumers to prepare for a delayed release though it’s not clear how long the delay might last.

The new Galaxy Note Edge is a concept phone but one that should be intriguing to those that are looking to upgrade to a high-end smartphone. Galaxy Note Edge specs include a Quad HD resolution, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung TouchWiz, 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, massive battery, and a thin 8.3mm frame. It also comes with an S Pen stylus.

It’s still not clear how much the Galaxy Note Edge price will be though we expect those details to arrive once Samsung and its carrier partners have a clear grasp on the release date in the U.S.

With a phone as large as the Note Edge, you’ll need an Otterbox or something to protect it – but wouldn’t the Otterbox get in the way of the Edge display?

This has been the one question looming in my mind since announcement … what kind of “hocky” case is going to be made to proteprotect this gem. That is to say without covering that edge?
