It’s been several weeks since U.S. carriers confirmed the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge release date for later this year. Nearly two months later, the Galaxy Note Edge release date in the United States remains mysterious though as we’ll show you in this preview, the U.S. Galaxy Note Edge release date and announcement should be very close.

In the beginning of September, Samsung took the stage to announce a number of new products. While the spotlight was on the rumored Galaxy Note 4, the company made a surprise announcement in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, a device that shares many of the Galaxy Note 4′s features but comes with a curved display.

Samsung’s brand new Galaxy Note Edge is a concept phone and one that should be intriguing to those that are looking to upgrade to a high-end smartphone. Its specs include a Quad HD resolution, a 2.7 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon 805 with 3GB of RAM, S Pen Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung TouchWiz, 16MP camera with Optical Image Stabilization, massive battery, and a thin 8.3mm frame. It also comes with a curved display unlike any other.

It’s an interesting alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and a device that many consumers have their eye on heading into the fall and the holiday shopping season. Unfortunately, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon have yet to confirm their ever-so-important Galaxy Note Edge release date details, something that’s left consumers hanging in the days after the Galaxy Note 4 release in the U.S.

The past couple of weeks though have proven to be very fruitful for the Galaxy Note Edge release date and we’ve acquired enough detail to offer another look at how the Galaxy Note Edge release date is shaping up here in the United States. Announcement Close?

At the tail end of last week, we saw a major Galaxy Note Edge release date development emerge for U.S. buyers. The Galaxy Note Edge finally made an appearance on Samsung’s website alongside the Galaxy Note 4. All four models made an appearance and while that doesn’t necessarily confirm an imminent announcement, it’s a sign that Samsung and its partners are still making progress behind the scenes.

Devices typically get listed on Samsung’s website shortly before they are announced so we could possibly see some movement in the next couple of weeks as Samsung irons out the final details with its partners and the FCC. We’re still waiting on one model to get clearance from the FCC and it’s not clear what the hold up is at this time.

Galaxy Note Edge Release Date Rumored

We should mention that we’ve been hearing rumors regarding the Galaxy Note Edge release dates. We’ve heard several times that the Galaxy Note Edge should hit the United States by the end of November. We heard initially that at least one carrier, either AT&T or T-Mobile, was shooting for a release in early November. With just a few days to go, and no pre-order in sight, that seems unlikely.

What we do know is that the U.S. is expected to join Japan, Korea and China in becoming one of the first regions to play host to the Galaxy Note Edge. And with the Japanese release date already done and the Korean Galaxy Note Edge release date now all but confirmed for late October, we could be just days away from a Galaxy Note Edge release date in the U.S.

AT&T, Sprint & T-Mobile Models Primed & Ready

In the past few weeks, the AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint Galaxy Note Edge models have all passed through the FCC. FCC approval is necessary before a smartphone can be released and their approval means that three of the four Galaxy Note Edge models are ready to hit shelves across the United States. There is, however, one straggler.

Verizon Galaxy Note Edge Release

The Verizon Galaxy Note Edge is the only model yet to clear the FCC. We expected it to arrive a few days after the others but we still haven’t seen anything emerge. Interesting, given the fact that the Galaxy Note Edge is now listed in all flavors on Samsung’s website. There are a few reasons why we bring this missing filing up.

First of all, Samsung needs approval before it can talk pre-orders, pricing and dates. Once the Verizon model passes through, we should see an announcement. The Galaxy Note 4 release date announcement arrived just days after the final model passed through the FCC’s clutches.

It’s also worth noting that the speed of the FCC filing (in this case, the lack thereof) probably won’t have any impact on the release date. That is to say that the Verizon Galaxy Note Edge release date probably won’t come weeks after its rivals.

Galaxy Note Edge Colors & Storage

Samsung’s listings confirm two important details for U.S. buyers ahead of the Galaxy Note Edge release. First, colors. The black and white models will hit all four carriers. This was never in any doubt though with Japan struggling to get the white Galaxy Note Edge out onto shelves, the white model could be a little harder to find at launch.

It also looks like the carriers will opt for the 32GB and not the 64GB Galaxy Note Edge. This was expected given their allegiance to the 32GB Galaxy Note 4. With a microSD card slot on the side, 32GB of internal storage space is going to be enough storage space for most people. What this means is that you should only expect one price and not a pricing tier.

Galaxy Note Edge Price

We still don’t know how much the Galaxy Note Edge is going to cost and despite its arrival in Japan, we still haven’t been able to narrow down the exact price in the United States.

The Galaxy Note Edge price in Japan is 93,312 yen which translates to about $875 U.S. dollars. That’s just a little bit more expensive than the U.S. Galaxy Note 4 off-contract price. In the U.S., the Galaxy Note 4 costs anywhere between $700 and $826 off-contract. We sincerely doubt that the Galaxy Note Edge is going to be just $50 or so more than the Galaxy Note 4.

In Russia, the Galaxy Note Edge is going to be extremely expensive. There, the Galaxy Note Edge will cost 49,990 rubles which is the equivalent of $1221 in the United States. That price seems too high. Russian smartphones are among the most expensive in the world and there’s a good chance that the U.S. price will come in lower than that.

The price will almost certainly be more than $800 off-contract but we’ll need carriers to announce those plans before we can get a solid read on how much it’s going to cost.
