One of the biggest reasons to buy the 2017 MacBook Pro is the new design that Apple introduced in 2016. The new MacBook Pro is thinner, lighter and smaller than the one it replaces for anyone who bought their current MacBook Pro more than a year ago. Apple shaves half a pound of each of the models, shrinks the overall; size by 20 to 23% and makes them thinner without cutting battery life, performance or the screen size. The new models include a Touch Bar above the display on the $1,799 and up models. This allows you to touch the small display to control applications and system functions. When you use Apple applications and soon other applications, the Touch Bar will change so you can use it to quickly access what you want. We know you can use it for Emoji, for app functions, for quick replies and much more. Too bad there is not a single decent(performance, battery, weight, case/assemble quality, screen, ssd only, no stupid parts like dvd) alternative to macbook pro, else I’d have bought one already :|
There are close catch like XPS 15 but this is still far off by some parameters(ssd size – no 1tb option)

Sergey, the cool thing about the Dell XPS 15″ is that both the DRAM and SSD are user upgradeable. You can, if you wish, buy the low end version and upgrade it to a 4 TB Samsung SSD and 32Gb DRAM! I’ve already priced that out, and the price is about the same as the high end Macbook Pro. And the Dell is a YEAR OLD!

Meh. Apple is destroying functionality on the altar of minimalism. I mean seriously, no standard USB ports? Sorry, but I don’t want a bunch of adapters. No Magsafe power port? No port for Apple Cinema displays? Sorry Apple, but you’re doing what you did in the 90’s. You’re not listening to users and you’re making stupid choices by committee. Further proof that Apple without Jobs is a mediocre company.

The TB3/USB3.1/DisplayPort ports ARE standard USB ports. They are Type-C USB 3.1. In addition to 10Gbps USB data transfer, they also allow delivery of up to 100W of power, so one can be used to charge the laptop’s battery.
Worst case is you’ll need a few new USB cables to go from type C to your device (instead of type A). You already need cables to go from type A to your device, so you won’t be any worse off than you are now.

I have purchased the best MBP 2015 model with 600USD discount this summer. Even official Czech dealer was thinking new Macbooks Pro are comming out. The price is already high again.

Old technology, to keep calling the Macbook a Pro is misleading. Its expensive, 6th and not 7th Gen CPU, still only 16 GB graphics and more expensive. Sorry Apple but people looking for a Pro laptop want power and performance not smaller and lighter. Its not like it is smaller or lighter.
Dell XPS 15 is certainly better bang for your buck. Yet again Apple does not convince me to move from PC to Mac laptop. Another missed opportunity, but im sure the fans boys will love its looks and shell out whatever price Apple puts on it.

On the 13in Non touch bar model there is a 2.0GHz i5. The 2015 model, which costs hundreds of dollars less, has a 2.7GHz i5. Such a downgrade.

Did you actually use the MBP before writing the article or are you just rehashing marketing material? Anyway, looks like the general consensus is in: The MacBook Pro with Touch Bar sucks donkey d#ck, it belongs on a lower end model. Battery life sucks, usability with the Touch Bar sucks, not having MagSafe is a PITA. We’ll be waiting for the MBP to release in 15″ without the TouchBar. Otherwise will be buying a 2015 model when the time comes.

Definitely 32GB ram is an improvement 64GB is par to competition(IBM) 128 means PRO. Let’s get four core I7 in the 13″. If i have the option to choose 2TB and 4TB for HD I do not care if it is soldered on the motherboard. Make them smaller, smaller bezel and the display closer to the hinges a true 13 and 15 inch. Make the screen fold around like a 2-1. Give us touch screen. The price is already excellent and very competitive for equal purchases but a 20% reduction is better.

Sticking with my mid-2009 Macbook Pro 5,3. I’ve upgraded it twice and it continues to perform just fine. I’ve seen nothing in recent years that gives me any compelling reason to upgrade. Apple just keeps cutting useful features. The really unfortunate thing is there is no real Windows competitor. It’s junk all the way around.
