You also get some of Google's Android Pie features with your upgrade.

The Android Pie update comes with a bunch of Google's features including Adaptive Battery, Adaptive Brightness, App Actions, Slices, and Smart Text Selection.

Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness are two of the standouts and they could have a noticeable impact on your day-to-day use.

Adaptive Battery is an AI-based feature that learns how you use the apps on your phone over time and uses that data to improve battery life.

If you use an app a lot, it will stay in your memory after you close it. If you don't use an app a lot, your device will instantly kill it so it doesn't needlessly eat up power in the background.

The AI also learns when you use your apps the most. If you use an app at a certain point in the day, it will wake that app up during that time period. It will also stop the app in the background during the times you don't regularly use it.

Adaptive Brightness also uses AI to learn your habits. Over time, your phone will learn how you like to set your phone's brightness in certain situations and it will adjust the screen accordingly. This should help you save battery.
