4 Reasons Not to Install iOS 16.1.2 & 11 Reasons You Should

Apple’s iOS 16.1.2 update could have a huge impact on your iPhone’s performance. While some iPhone users should install the new software right now, others are better off waiting a few hours or perhaps even a few more days before moving up from iOS 15 or older versions of iOS 16.

iOS 16.1.2 is the latest upgrade for iOS 16 users and it’s available to download right now if you own an iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE 2, iPhone SE 3, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 13 model, or a model from the new iPhone 14 series.

The newest version of iOS 16 brings vital enhancements and new security patches to the iPhone. It doesn’t have any brand new features on board.

The iOS 16.1.2 update requires a fairly small download if you’re moving up from 16.1. It will be larger for those of you moving up from older versions of iOS. That’s because the features and fixes from the updates you skipped are baked into your version of iOS 16.1.2.

Those of you dealing with issues on iOS 16.1.1, iOS 16.1, or an older version of iOS could see a huge turnaround after installing iOS 16.1.2. We’re already hearing about positive changes. That being said, we’re also hearing about various bugs and performance problems.

If you do run into an issue, note that you can downgrade back to iOS 16.1.1 or iOS 16.1. Unfortunately, Apple’s closed off the downgrade path back to older versions of iOS.

This means those of you having a great experience on iOS 16.0.3 and other versions of iOS need to approach the iOS 16.1.2 upgrade with caution. Once you make the move, there’s no going back to your current version of iOS.

16.1 version is messing with my (encrypt. me) VPN app and my banking app. I have to turn the VPN app off to use my banking app.
