iOS 17 doesn't bring an enormous redesign to the Maps application, but there are a trio of useful upgrades on board.
The first, Offline Maps. This is a huge addition if you tend to spend a lot of time in areas with spotty Wi-Fi or cellular connectivity. It allows you to download a specific area and access turn-by-turn navigation, see your estimated time of arrival, and find places of note while you're offline. Apple's added thousands of trails in parks across the United States which is awesome if you love to day hike or go backpacking.
If you own an electric vehicle, Maps now has real-time charging availability information which is great for roadtrips. |

I would never install a beta on any primary use device. I would also wait for at least a couple revisions of a final release to eliminate the bugs found after a public release. Sometimes bugs just are not found until more devices start running the new OS.
