If you're hunkered down at home trying to weather the Coronavirus, if you're a first responder that uses your tablet, or if you are you unable to spend time on the phone with Apple if something goes wrong after the update, you should wait to install this update until a later date.

There's a chance iPadOS 14 works fine on your iPad, but it takes a while to install the update and there is always a chance something could go wrong.

You might not want to deal with 1) waiting an hour for an update to install, 2) finding help with Apple Stores closed, and/or 3) dealing with apps or services that aren't working.

If any of these things concern you, you might want to hold off until we know more about iPadOS 14 and its performance.

If you haven't prepared for the move to iOS 14 you'll want to hold off until you've had time to prepare yourself, and your device, for the move. 

It's impossible to predict how your iPhone will handle the move from iOS 13 to iOS 14 and that's precisely why you should spend some time preparing for the move. 

If you don't know where to start, we've put together a guide that will walk you through the pre-installation process we use before we install new iOS firmware on our phones. 

If you don't have a ton of time to devote to the pre-installation process, make sure your data is completely backed at the very least.

Data loss issues are rare, but if you store sensitive data on your phone, you'll want to make sure it's safe and sound before moving to iOS 14.
