macOS Sonoma 14.4 brought a toggle for showing only icons for websites in the Safari Favorites Bar. If that sounds useful, and you missed macOS Sonoma 14.4, download the upgrade.
macOS Sonoma itself comes with some very useful improvements for the Safari browser. Perhaps the biggest change is the addition of support for profiles in Safari which lets you keep your browsing separate for things like work and your personal life. These Profiles will separate your history, extensions, Tab Groups, cookies, and favorites and you can seamlessly switch between profiles as you browse.
Apple also says Search in Safari is even more responsive in macOS Sonoma and shows easier-to-read and more relevant suggestions. If you're a heavy Safari user, and you're still on macOS Ventura, consider downloading macOS Sonoma.
