The Samsung Galaxy S5 is here but it’s not coming until April. The new HTC One (HTC M8) launch date is scheduled for late March but there is no guarantee that it will be released in March. So, it looks like those on the hunt for a new smartphone in March might be stuck looking at the best Android smartphones from 2013 instead.
The new year has gotten off to a slow start. In years past, companies released flagship devices in the first three months of the year. That simply hasn’t been the case in 2014 where the first three months have really only see one big name smartphone launch for the United States. That device? T-Mobile’s Xperia Z1s. We saw new devices arrive at Mobile World Congress but only the LG G Pro 2 stood out and we don’t know when it’s heading to the U.S.
Last week, we saw the first true big name of 2014 arrive in the form of the Samsung Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S5, the true successor to the Galaxy S4, may have been announced in February, but Samsung says that it won’t be arriving until April 11th. This means that those who need a smartphone right now, or in March, are out of luck.
The next big name smartphone is likely going to be the HTC M8, also known as the all new HTC One, and a device that should be launched on March 25th. There, HTC will give it a release date but it’s not clear exactly when it will be arriving in the U.S. We could see an arrival in March but there is certainly no guarantee. What this means is that those who are looking for a device are going to encounter some of the biggest names in Android. From 2013.
That’s not a bad thing though. Some of the Android devices that arrived in 2013 are among the best smartphones ever made. And even now, they remain solid options for those looking for a new smartphone.
With that in mind, here are the devices that we consider to be the five best Android smartphones for the month of March, 2014.
Believe it or not, the Nexus 5 is only a few months old. Seems like forever ago that Samsung took the curtain down from around it and Android 4.4 KitKat.
Google says that the Nexus 6 won't be arriving in the first half of the year which means that the Nexus 5 will remain the top dog on the Google Play Store for the foreseeable future.
With its high end hardware, vanilla Google Android experience, extremely competitive price tag, and its 4G LTE data on AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, the Nexus 5 is an Android smartphone that is worthy of your attention in the month of March and beyond.
