4 Reasons to Wait for the 2020 MacBook Pro & 3 Reasons Not To

Wait for a Better Keyboard

Wait for a Better Keyboard

One of the biggest reasons to wait for the 2020 MacBook Pro is that all signs indicate that Apple is finally giving up on the problematic keyboard that it's used in the MacBook Pro for the last several years.

The current models use a butterfly switch that isn't great to type on and that routinely breaks down when dust gets into the mechanism causing keys not to type or to double enter a letter. There is an active keyboard service program for these keys.

Ming-Chi Kou is a trusted analyst with a good track record for predicting Apple's moves well ahead of the release. In the latest report from Kou, we learn that the 16-inch MacBook Pro that is likely coming in the fall will be the first with the new scissor-switch.

This will offer better travel, the distance a key moves when you type, and ideally better reliability in the real world. If you type a lot and you are a mobile user,  this is a major reason to wait for the 2020 MacBook Pro release date.
