Samsung Galaxy Alpha
Before the iPhone 6 was announced with a huge screen, the Samsung Galaxy Alpha was debuted by Samsung as a mid-sized smartphone with premium specs that many considered a phone that would compete with the iPhone 6. It features an aluminum frame like the new Galaxy Note 4, yet only has a 4.7-inch display to keep things small.
The Galaxy Alpha sports a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, an 8-core Samsung Exynos processor with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 12 megapixel rear camera, a fingerprint scanner and heart rate monitor, and an sleek metal finish. It's powered by Android 4.4 KitKat and a 1,860 mAh battery and is available unlocked, or from AT&T. It's an excellent smaller smartphone that many may have overlooked in 2014.
