In addition to these Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates, Samsung will reportedly outfit the Galaxy S6 Duos, Galaxy Note 4 Duos, Galaxy Tab A, and Galaxy Alpha with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. YouMobile also claims that the company will roll out an update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab A.

If this list holds up, it means that popular devices like the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 will be left behind on Lollipop. The move would be an unpopular one but it's not surprising. The two devices are now two years old and Samsung typically keeps devices updated for two years. (Neither appears on T-Mobile's list.)

Nothing is set in stone but if your device is two years old or older, there's a good chance you won't get the Android 6.0 update in 2015 or 2016.

Since Samsung releases so many devices, it’s kind of understandable why they’re slow/hesitant to provide timely updates. I remember when Samsung said the Note 2 would get upgraded to 5.0… and that never happened.. so I’m not really holding my breath with my Note 4, but if it does come I don’t expect it to be until around 2016 and I’m sure it would be the only major update given for that phone.
