LG G7 vs Pixel 3 XL: Worth Waiting For?

Published

on

LG recently announced the new LG G7 ThinQ with high-end specs and a lot to offer. A phone that will rival Samsung, Google, and Apple. With the G7 coming soon, here’s what to expect and if it’s worth waiting for. We’ll go over everything we know, and how it’ll potentially compare to the Pixel 3 XL later this year.

If you’re hunting for your next smartphone LG’s G7 should be near the top of your list. Mainly because it has a few things most phones don’t. Including a dedicated Google Assistant button, a wide-angle camera lens, and a built-in Quad DAC for improved audio.

LG’s latest also delivers a big 6.1-inch Quad-HD display with almost no bezels. It’s like a mix between the iPhone X and the Galaxy S9+. Only with LG’s fine-tuning, AI smarts and other fancy features. It’ll give Google’s upcoming Pixel 3 XL a run for its money.

While there are several excellent Android phones available now or coming soon, the LG G7 arrives on June 1st. Making it one of the best options available here in 2018, and moving forward. If you don’t want a Samsung, LG and Google are two of your next best options.

We know a new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are coming soon from Google, we’re just not sure how soon. Most likely the search giant will unveil new phones in September or October. However, with the Note 9 release coming early, Google might release it’s flagship phones earlier too. Making the wait for the Pixel 3 easier for some.

So, if you don’t need a phone right this moment and will potentially wait for the G7, Note 9, or the Pixel 3, this post is for you. We’ll go over everything we know so far about Google’s upcoming phone, and all the latest Pixel 3 XL rumors. Then compare it to the LG G7 ThinQ.

LG G7 vs Pixel 3 XL: Display

When it comes to buying a smartphone, the screen size is one of the most important factors. The problem though is the Pixel 3 XL isn't official yet and is only a rumor. Still, we have a good idea of what to expect. Everything in this post about the Pixel 3 is speculation.

With the LG G7 ThinQ you'll get an LCD display, not an AMOLED. Coming in at 6.1-inch 3120 x 1440 Quad-HD. It's tall and skinny like the Galaxy S9 or Pixel 2 XL. In fact, they're very similar in overall shape.

As for the Pixel 3, we're not sure yet. That said, expect Google to release two sizes again, with the bigger Pixel 3 XL coming in around 6-inches. We could see an even bigger screen, to better compete with the Galaxy S9+, the iPhone 10 Plus (or 9 Plus) and the rest of the competition.

I'm guessing Google will stick to 6-inches, and use a screen made by LG. If not the exact same screen as the LG G7. They used the LG V30 screen in the Pixel 2 XL in 2017.

And while we don't know what's going to happen yet, we do know that the LG G7 has a notch like the iPhone X. We're not sure if Google will follow the same trend, but it's doubtful. If you're ok with the notch try the LG G7. If not, wait to see what the Galaxy Note 9 and Pixel 3 XL have to offer.
