5 Things to Know About the iPadOS 14.7.1 Update

Apple’s pushed an iPadOS 14.7.1 update to iPad, iPad Pro, iPad Air, and iPad mini users.

Unlike iPadOS 14.7, iPadOS 14.7.1 is a minor point upgrade with an important security patch on board. It doesn’t have any known bug fixes or features.

  • Wi-Fi connectivity is fast and reliable.
  • Bluetooth is working fine at the moment.
  • GPS and cellular data are stable.

  • Third-party apps like Netflix, Dark Sky, Twitter, Slack, Asana, Gmail, Chrome, and Spotify are working just fine right now.
  • First party apps like Safari, Podcasts, and Calendar are also stable.

Speed

  • iPadOS 14.7.1 feels as fast as iPadOS 14.7 did.

iPadOS 14.7.1 Problems

iPadOS 14.7.1 Jailbreak

The developer teams behind the Checkra1n and unC0ver jailbreaking tools have released versions that are compatible with newer versions of iPadOS 14, but they aren’t compatible with iPadOS 14.7.1. Not yet at least.

What’s Next

Apple’s apparently working on a new iOS 14.8 update for iPhone which means it’s probably working on iPadOS 14.8 for iPad as well. It’s unclear when the new software will roll out and we’ll let you know when we learn more about the company’s plans.

Apple’s confirmed its new iPadOS 15 operating system and the software is currently in beta testing ahead of its release later this year.

The iPadOS 15 release date lands in the fall, but if you don’t want to wait until September, you can download the software on your iPad right now. iPadOS 15 supports all iPadOS 14-powered devices.
