These are the best iPad Pro keyboard cases you can buy for your new iPad. We’ll show you the best iPad Pro keyboards for all the iPad Pro models from the 2018 iPad Pro to the 9.7-inch and 10.5-inch models so you can stay productive on the go.
You can find a lot of keyboard and keyboard cases, but not all are created equal. While the options were limited, you have a range of choices to outfit your iPad Pro with a keyboard case, or even to buy a simple keyboard you slip into your bag.
Apple’s official iPad Pro keyboard cases are expensive, but there are a lot of more affordable options, including some that are better for mobile users.
Best 2018 iPad Pro Keyboard Cases (12.9-inch & 11-inch)
If you own the newest iPad Pro models introduced in 2018, you have four main options to choose from. We recommend looking into the third-party options from Brydge and Zagg if you want a more MacBook Pro like experience and backlit keys, plus a cheaper price tag.
Brydge iPad Pro Keyboard (2019)
Brydge makes our favorite 2018 iPad Pro keyboard cases. Designed specifically for the 2018 iPad Pro in 12.9-inch and 11-inch sizes, you get a backlit keyboard case that connects easily and offers a hinge like a MacBook Pro to easily get the right angle.
The keyboard is very good, allowing us to quickly and accurately type, and the strong wide base makes it better for on lap use than Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio. There is even a small leather back that keeps the iPad Pro free of scratches.
You can attach this iPad Pro keyboard case in three modes; keyboard mode, tablet mode and movie mode. Personally I will use the keyboard and movie modes, and simply remove the iPad Pro when I want to use it as just a tablet. $149 for the 11-inch and $169 for the 12.9-inch model.
Zagg Slim Book iPad Pro Keyboard
The Zagg Slim Book Go is an excellent iPad Pro 2018 keyboard case. It features a nice backlit keyboard that you can even detach and use while your iPad Pro stands upright thanks to a kickstand built into the case. There’s also a spot to keep your Apple Pencil safe and. handy when it’s not charging.
If you are looking for something with a little more protection for the iPad Pro, this is the option that you need. I like that you can remove the keyboard and still have your iPad protected, and the kickstand is perfect for watching movies on a plane or in bed.
You can pair the Slim Book Pro to multiple devices, so you can use it with your iPad Pro and with your iPhone. Zagg also sells a cheaper Messenger Folio that is just $69.99 for the 11-inch model and a rugged iPad Pro keyboard for the 111-inch model that is $149.99.
Apple Smart Keyboard Folio for 2018 iPad Pro
The Apple Smart Keyboard Folio is one of the most popular iPad Pro keyboard cases you can buy for the 2018 models. It’s a nice keyboard case that offers a decent typing experience and that protects your iPad Pro with a slim cover when not in use. Apple even adds a second angle to this new version, that makes working on a lap a little easier.
With this option you get Apple fit and finish with a nice looking case, but you don’t get backlit keys and lap use is more challenging than with the Brydge or Zagg options.
The Apple Smart Keyboard Folio is $179 for the 11-inch and $199 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.
IVSO iPad Pro 2018 Keyboard Case
You can still get a good 2018 iPad Pro keyboard case without breaking the bank. On Amazon there are a lot of cheap iPad Pro keyboard cases, but the one with the best reviews and a price under $50 is the IVSO keyboard case.
This case is available for the 2018 iPad Pro in 11-inch and 12.9-inch sizes and it includes a kickstand, a spot to store the Apple Pencil and it will wake and sleep the iPad Pro when you open and close it.
Best iPad Pro 10.5-inch Keyboard Cases
The 10.5-inch iPad Pro is one of the most popular models to date, and there are a plethora of keyboard options. We narrow it down to the best ones that you can buy in 2019.
Logitech Slim Combo
The Logitech Slim Combo may be the perfect 10.5-inch iPad Pro keyboard case. It offers a backlit keyboard and that you can easily remove from the case and it uses the Smart Connection that the official Apple option offers so you never have to charge it.
This case snaps off and you can use the kickstand to prop the iPad Pro up for movies, games and more without the keyboard in the way. There’s also a built-in Apple Pencil holder. It’s $129.95, but you can find some deals on it including a drop to $85 at Best Buy.
Zagg Slim Book
The Zagg Slim Book is a great iPad Pro keyboard case that includes a detachable case so you can take just the iPad with you when you only need a tablet. It has a spot to hold the Apple Pencil and it can connect to two devices.
With backlit keys, a slim design and a protective shell, this is one of the best 10.5-inch iPad Pro keyboard cases you can buy in 2019. If you are looking for a cheaper option, check out the Messenger Folio.
Brydge 10.5 Series II
The Brydge 10.5-inch iPad Pro keyboard is an excellent option to turn your iPad Pro into a laptop replacement. This case includes a hinge with lots of flexibility and the option to easily remove the iPad when you don’t need a keyboard.
Close up the color matched 10.5-inch iPad Pro keyboard case and you’ll protect the screen of your iPad Pro perfectly. With well spaced backlit keys, this is an amazing case that will keep your iPad safe and your productivity supercharged.
Best iPad Pro 9.7-inch Keyboard Cases
If you’re still rocking the 9.7-inch iPad Pro, you have a lot of options for excellent keyboard cases, including a new one from Zagg.
Zagg Slim Book Go
While the 9.7-inch iPad Pro isn’t brand new, you can still get a new iPad Pro keyboard case for it. Zagg announced the Slim Book Go in January 2019 and it’s one of our favorite options. There’s storage for the Apple Pencil and the keyboard is detachable so you can quickly go to tablet mode or set your iPad out further and hold the keyboard on your lap. You can also get a rugged version for $149.99 at Best Buy.
Brydge 9.7 iPad Pro Keyboard Case
Even with the older iPad Pro models, Brydge has you covered with an amazing iPad Pro 9.7-inch keyboard case. It’s backlit to three levels, includes very good key travel and the arrow keys are the good style that makes it easy to move around in a document with touch. That’s an excellent option since you don’t have a mouse to get to the spot in text that you want. It’s easy to put the iPad Pro in this keyboard case, and then slide it out when you want to use it as just a tablet. This is a $99 iPad Pro keyboard case.
The Logitech Create 12.9-inch iPad Pro keyboard case is a nice option that uses the Smart Connector so you never have to charge. The folio style keeps your iPad Pro safe and you get a large keyboard. This is a great option if you’re on a budget because you can get it for as low as $58, which is down form the new price of $129.
Best iPad Pro 12.9-inch Keyboard Cases (1st & 2nd Gen)
With the old 12.9-inch iPad Pro models you get a lot of great choices, but these stand out. If you can find it, we also recommend checking out the Razer Mechanical iPad Pro keyboard case, but it’s no longer listed on Razer.
Brydge BrydgePro Keyboard
Brydge led the way with their keyboards for the original 12.9-inch iPad, and they still make one of the best options you can buy. You get backlit keys, wireless connectivity and hinges that allow you to find the perfect angle. Brydge makes it easy to remove the iPad from the keyboard when you no longer need it and the keys offer a nice typing option. At $149.99 it’s cheaper than Apple’s option and offers more options and typing angles.
Logitech Slim Combo
The Logitech Slim Combo is one of the best 12.9-inch iPad Pro keyboard cases that you can find. It uses the same Smart Connector as the official , but this one is backlit, so it’s easier to use on dark planes, in a car and in other dim settings.
This case snaps off and you can use the kickstand to prop the iPad Pro up for movies, games and more without the keyboard in the way. There’s also a built-in Apple Pencil holder. It’s $149.95, but you can find some deals on it including a drop to $119.99 at Best Buy.
Apple Smart Keyboard
While it doesn’t offer as many options as the newest Apple Smart Keyboard Folio, the version for the old 12.9-inch iPad Pro is still a tried and true keyboard case. You get a full size keyboard, no need to charge it thanks to the Smart Connector and decent key travel. There is no backlighting and no other angle, but it’s a nice option.
