Galaxy Note 5 Software

In June, Galaxy Note 5 rumors hinted at the device's software. While many of the specifics are unknown, it looks like Samsung might opt for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop instead of Android M.

Android M isn't coming until Q3 with a release rumored for Nexus devices August. That might not leave enough time for Samsung to get the software ready for a Galaxy Note 5 release date in September. We're still not sure but buyers will want to brace for Android 5.1.1.

In June, Samsung started rolling out Android 5.1.1 to the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. The updates brought some new features to the flagship phones but they also fixed many of the Galaxy S6 problems plaguing users after release.

The fact that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge are now more stable than they once were won't help make the decision to wait for the Galaxy Note 5 any easier. Nor will the fact that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge will likely be among the first devices to get Android M.

We would not, however, expect the software to be exactly the same. Not with an S Pen rumored for the Galaxy Note 5.
