Galaxy Note 9 vs Galaxy S8+: Camera

Another big change is to the camera setup on these two phones. The Galaxy Note 9 has over a year worth of upgrades and two highly capable cameras on the back. The S8+ still has a good camera, but there's only one lens.

The Galaxy S8+ has a 12 DualPixel camera with an f/1.7 aperture that's pretty great. However, the Note 9 packs two cameras on the back, and one features a telephoto zoom. Not to mention the main camera has a new variable aperture technology where it can physically move and change to get the best photo.

What we mean is the Note 9 camera can go from f/1.5 aperture for amazing low-light photos, and move to f/2.4 if you're outdoors for fast, clear, crisp photos. It changes just like the human eye based on how much light is around you. It's pretty neat, and the S8+ can't compare in the camera department. That's not to mention the 960 FPS slow-motion video recording, or Samsung's new scene and error detection AI in the camera. It'll change settings, contrast and color profiles based on what you're taking photos of. Then, alert you if someone blinks or you have an error in the photo. It's pretty neat.

Both take great photos, but if photography is important you'll want Samsung's newest phone.
