Galaxy S6 Active: 5 Things I Learned on the First Day

Amazing Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is the first Galaxy that doesn't have a removable battery. That was ditched in favor of adding a more premium design. And to make matters worse, they went from a 2,800 mAh battery on the Galaxy S5, to a small 2,550 mAh battery on the Galaxy S6. A step backwards.

However, the Galaxy S6 Active has a massive 3,500 mAh battery. Basically as much juice as the Galaxy Note 4, but in the same small 5.1-inch screen. As a result, this phone is delivering some of the best battery life of any smartphone I've ever used.

Yesterday I set it all up, downloaded over 65 apps, synced all my information, played some Clash of Clans, browsed the web, made a few phone calls, dropped it in water just for fun, streamed music to my car stereo, and used it nearly the entire day. By 8PM I still had 59% battery life remaining, and I was shocked.

With the Galaxy S6 I would have already plugged it in while driving, when I got home and was making dinner, and at least one or two "top-offs" to ensure I could do some light web browsing and gaming before bed without running out of battery. With the Active though, I had more than half the battery left, and was able to use it for the rest of the evening and not even think about the charger. A feeling I wish I had with every smartphone.

This morning I woke up to 31% remaining. That was some hard usage. Anyone with average or moderate device usage will easily see over 2 days of battery life with the Galaxy S6 Active. That alone, is one more reason to choose this over the regular option.
