The Galaxy S8 Android Pie update might start in February or March, but that doesn't mean everyone will get the software right away.
If you own a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ on a popular carrier in a major market, you'll likely be first to Samsung's Android Pie update. The first phase of Samsung's Android roll outs is typically focused on bigger markets like the United States, South Korea, and select markets in Europe. The roll out usually starts there before moving onto smaller markets. In the United States, carriers like AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon usually get major updates out quicker than smaller regional carriers.
For example, U.S. Cellular's Android Oreo updates arrived several weeks after larger carriers deployed their Android 8.0 upgrades. You can also expect the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ to get Android Pie before the Galaxy S8 Active. If you own an Active model, you'll probably get Android Pie a few weeks after everyone else.
If you own a Galaxy S8 in a smaller region, on a smaller carrier, or if you own a Galaxy S8 Active, prepare for a long wait. |
