Horizon Zero Dawn Release Date

The Horizon Zero Dawn release date is February 28th. Originally set for last year, the game is now coming this month and there should be no further delays.

Gamers can buy Horizon Zero Dawn on disc or digitally for the PS4. There is no Horizon Zero Dawn PC release planned or any word on a Xbox One Horizon Zero Dawn release, but neither are likely. The company making the game is a subsidiary of Sony Interactive Entertainment so don’t expect to play this on any other console.

Midnight Horizon Zero Dawn Release Date Events

At this stage, there are no midnight Horizon Zero Dawn release date events scheduled, but this could change as the release date nears.

It is unlikely that Best Buy will stay open late for a PS4 exclusive, especially with the Nintendo Switch release date just around the corner that will certainly call for midnight openings.

GameStop doesn’t list any Horizon Zero Dawn midnight openings yet, but they’ve been holding off announcements until much closer to the release date.

If you pre-order the digital version of Horizon Zero Dawn you will be able to play at midnight and there is an option to pre-load the game.

Horizon Zero Dawn Pre-Load and Size

You can buy a digital version of Horizon Zero Dawn that arrives directly to your PS4 or PS4 Pro as a digital download.

The Horizon Zero Dawn pre-load starts 48 hours before the release date for PS4 games. This is revealed in the video from Sony, shared below.

The PlayStation Store lists the game as available to play at midnight eastern on February 28th, so a pre-load will allow you to start playing as soon as the release date arrives.

Currently, the Horizon Zero Dawn size is 7.1MB, which is not the final size. That is likely the Horizon Zero Dawn dynamic theme that arrives with the digital pre-order. Expect to see a size update in the near future.

There are three Horizon Zero Dawn editions, but there are only two that are easy to find at this point.

The standard edition of Horizon Zero Dawn is $59.99 and includes the game as well as some pre-order bonuses depending on where you order from. This is digital and on disk.
