How to Change the OnePlus 6T Lockscreen & Wallpaper

If you’re looking to customize your phone, this guide explains how to change the OnePlus 6T lock screen and wallpaper. Including adding your own images or photos instead of using what comes on the phone.

The OnePlus 6T has a big 6.4-inch HD AMOLED display that looks great. Getting good wallpapers in a high-resolution will look better and give you the best experience. We’ll show you all the customization options and even recommended the best places to get wallpapers.

One of the benefits of changing the lock screen and wallpaper is customization. We like that OnePlus offers so many options, including setting a different image for the lock screen and the background wallpaper. You can use the same image or two different ones. Here’s how to get started.

How to Change the OnePlus 6T Lock Screen & Wallpaper

The easiest method is to press and hold on a blank area, then tap on wallpapers. Simply follow our instructions below. You can even set your own image for the lockscreen, then a moving live wallpaper or slow-motion GIF as your regular background.

  • Push and hold on a blank area on the screen
  • Next, you’ll see the customization menu, select Wallpaper
  • Tap on My Photos or scroll through the image gallery
  • Now select the image you want, crop to fit, and hit Apply Wallpaper
  • Choose home screen, lock screen or both

Like usual, OnePlus added some beautiful images, landscape photos, live wallpapers and colors for you to choose from. Essentially giving you a bunch of options right out of the box. And while some of them look great, you can tap on My Photos (or Shot on OnePlus) to select from your own gallery or a gallery of the best photos from the OnePlus forums. This is how people use a photo they took of their family, kids, or pets with the phone camera. Find what you want, and use it.

To find some beautiful wallpapers download the app called Zedge and browse their collection. Make sure you get at least a 1080p HD image for the best results. Also, the darker the image the better the battery life will be.

Lock screen Wallpaper

Next, adding a wallpaper to the lock screen is just as easy. Simply follow the same steps as above for the lock screen. When you find the image you’d like to use and hit apply the phone will ask, “Do you want to apply this to the home screen, the lock screen, or both?”

Select both if you only want one image, or choose which part of the phone to put it on. I have something different for my lock screen and my wallpaper, and you can too.

Other Details and Lock Screen Customization

Unfortunately, OnePlus doesn’t give us a lot of options when it comes to customizing the lockscreen. However, you can change the animation for the in-display fingerprint scanner. It’s under Settings > Lock screen & Security > Fingerprints.

If you’d like to fully change and customize the lock screen you’ll need to replace your home screen launcher. The most popular app for this is NOVA Launcher, which is highly customizable. While you’re here, snag a case from our roundup of the best OnePlus 6T cases.

This explanation is misleading. It makes you think that a choice of buttons for Home or Lock screen will appear, when this is not true. A visual of the home or lock screen is displayed once you go into the wallpaper customization menu. The tutorial should tell you that you have to select between the two screens first by scrolling left or right and then pick the wallpaper. That the wallpaper you select will be applied to the screen you have selected. The option to select the screen is first, not second.

Until today, I’ve followed these instructions (with Vanya’s correction) to change lockscreen pics. Today I suddenly have a still from a video I watched as my lockscreen. Going into the wallpaper customisation menu shows the image I want as the lockscreen. I can change it in the customization menu as it should be. But when I return to the lockscreen itself, the video still is there. Anyone have any idea wtf?
