iOS 12.4 Release Time

Most of you already know this, but for those new to iOS and Apple, know that Apple always rolls its software updates out in and around 10AM Pacific. This goes for new betas as well.

Updates never roll out on weekends or Friday's so you don't have to check your phone outside of a very small window: Monday-Thursday, 10AM Pacific.

Here's what that looks like for other regions around the world:

  • Eastern – 1 PM
  • Central – 12 PM
  • Mountain – 11AM
  • London – 6 PM
  • Moscow – 9 PM
  • New Delhi – 10:30 PM
  • Shanghai – 1 AM
  • Tokyo – 2 AM
  • Melbourne – 3 AM
  • Auckland – 5 AM

Keep this in mind if you plan to install beta updates or the final version of iOS 12.4 right away.

Release of the update sooner rather than later would be helpful. I’m encountering a set-up issue with a new ipad Pro (2018 version) – so Apple’s latest release (and a very pricey one at that). The latest version of IOS available for the ipad is 12.1.1, but my iphone6s runs on IOS 12.1.2. All my iCloud backups (visible on the ipad) are in IOS version 12.1.2. On setting up the ipad, it prompts to restore from Icloud, but because the IOS versions do not align, the ipad is unable to set up based on my iPhone’s backup. I have spent hours on the phone with Apple Support, and the best they have to offer are (i) time consuming and suboptimal workarounds or (ii) waiting on IOS 12.1.3’s release…

You should also start backing up the data you store on your device(s). If you don’t know where to start, you’ll want to dig into our guides covering iCloud backups and iTunes backups. Data loss issues are pretty rare, but there’s always a chance something gets lost in the shuffle as you transition to a new version of iOS.
