Multitasking iPad Features in iOS 9

Apple adds three new multitasking features to iOS 9 for the iPad. Combined these new iOS 9 features offer a more laptop like experience that delivers the ability to do two things at the same time for better entertainment and enhanced productivity. After using the new Split View feature to write a 1,000 word article that referenced multiple sources it is clear that the new multitasking options are made for an iPad with a big screen.

The video above outlines the new iOS 9 multitasking features including Slide Over, Split View and Picture in Picture. Some of these may look like Android features, but for potential iPad Pro buyers they look like selling points.

Slide Over - This option allows users to quickly swipe in from the right side of the screen to see a small iPhone app-like window that lets users quickly see and interact with an app. Developers need to support this, but Apple claims it is a minimal code update.

Split View - This is the new way to use two apps on screen at the same time on the iPad so that you can almost use it like a laptop. Currently only available on the iPad Air 2, Split View is an essential feature to set the stage for an iPad Pro with a big screen.

Picture in Picture - This option lets users watch video or a FaceTime call in a small pop over window that lets the user keep working on something else. With a bigger screen this will prove even more useful at watching a movie while you work or looking at a document while on a video call for work.
