iPhone Xs Max vs Galaxy Note 9: Specs & Features

Another important part of any decision is the specs and features of a phone. Thankfully, both of these phones come from companies that like to offer anything and everything in devices. They both have all the bells and whistles. Here's how the two compare. This is Apple's to Oranges so it really doesn't help but to each his own.

Galaxy Note 9 Specs

  • 6.4-inch 2960 x 1440 Quad-HD Curved Infinity AMOLED Display
  • Snapdragon 845 Processor or Samsung Exynos 9810 with 6-8GB of RAM
  • 128 or 512GB storage options
  • Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung UX
  • Dual 12MP Rear Cameras with variable aperture, IOS, 960 FPS Slow-mo, 4K, more
  • 8MP Front Selfie Camera with Portrait Mode & Improved AR Emoji
  • Stereo Speaker tuned by AKG
  • 4,000 mAh battery with fast and wireless charging
  • IP68 Dust & Water-resistance
  • USB Type-C, Bixby 2.0, Bixby AI, 3.5mm headphone jack
  • Heart-rate sensor, Face Unlock, Iris Scanning
  • S-Pen with Bluetooth, New Features, etc
  • and more

As you can see, the Note 9 tops the charts in almost every single category. That said, Apple's phone does the same thing.

iPhone Xs Max Specs

  • 6.5-inch 2688 x 1242 OLED Display with a notch
  • Apple A12 Bionic Chip with 4GB of RAM
  • 128, 256 or 512GB storage options
  • iOS 12 Software
  • Dual 12MP Rear Cameras with dual IOS, 4K, smart HDR, more
  • 7MP Facetime front camera array with Animoji, FaceID, etc
  • Stereo Speaker
  • Battery size unknown (lasts 1.5 hours longer than iPhone X)
  • IP68 Dust & Water-resistance
  • Lightning Port, Siri, Fast Charging, Wireless Charging
  • FaceID Unlock, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual-Sim, New Features, etc

As you can see, these phones are actually quite close. They both have virtually all the bells and whistles from their respective companies.

This year Apple increased water-resistance to match Samsung at IP68, which means it can go under about 5ft of water for around 30 minutes, instead of only 2-3 ft for 15-20 minutes. The battery is bigger to power that huge screen, but we don't have an actual number.

Either way, these are two fast and powerful phones that'll have no trouble doing anything and everything. We do worry that in the future, or later in 2019 the 4GB of RAM won't be enough to power new features in iOS. The Note 9 has 6 or 8GB of RAM for improved multitasking.
