When it comes to choosing a phone another important thing is specs. How powerful and future-proof a phone is. Last year the LG G6 arrived with an old and outdated processor, and less RAM, and instantly lost to the competition. That's not the case this year. In fact, the LG G7 ThinQ compares favorably with the Galaxy S9+ across the board. Well, except for two key areas.

As you can see, there is a lot to like here. For one, both rear cameras are now the same sensor and 16-Megapixels, so you'll get great photos. You'll also enjoy a big screen, plenty of storage, and excellent sound. Two areas of concern though, are the relatively small 3,000 mAh battery and only 4GB of RAM. While 4GB is enough for most, the Galaxy S9+ has 6GB for improved performance and multi-tasking. Galaxy S9+ Specs
- 6.2-inch 2560 x 1440 Quad-HD Curved Infinity AMOLED Display
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Processor
- 6GB of RAM & 64GB of internal storage (Micro-SD slot included)
- Android 8.0 Oreo with Samsung TouchWiz
- 12 Dualpixel Rear Camera - OIS, phase detection auto-focus, f/1.7 aperture, secondary 12 MP zoom lens with OIS
- 8 megapixel front camera
- Fingerprint and Iris Scanners
- IP68 dust & water resistance
- 3,500 mAh battery with Fast & Faster Wireless Charging
- Dual Stereo Speaker configuration (One on top and another on bottom)
- Samsung Pay, USB Type-C, 3.5mm headphone jack, AI, more
For what it's worth, the Galaxy S9 has a 5.8-inch screen and a 3,000 mAh battery. Even the smaller LG G6 last year had a bigger battery than the LG G7. For whatever reason, LG went with a large 6.1-inch screen but didn't use the same 3,300 mAh battery as they did with the LG V30 last year.
As a result, the LG G7 has a massive screen but only a 3,000 mAh battery powering it. That makes us worry that battery life may be a cause for concern. That aside, everything else compares very well to the Galaxy S9+, and any upcoming Android competition. |
