OnePlus 6 vs Pixel 2 XL: Specs

Both of these phones are very fast and powerful. Honestly, the specs don't matter all that much. Yes, the OnePlus 6 has a newer processor from 2018, but that doesn't mean the Pixel 2 XL is slow. It's not.

Where there is a difference though, is the RAM. The OnePlus 6 should technically game and multitask better thanks to 6 or even 8GB of RAM. Here's the breakdown.

OnePlus 6 Specs

  • 6.28-inch 2280 x 1080p Full HD Optic AMOLED Display
  • Snapdragon 845 Processor with 6-8GB of RAM (Same processor as S9)
  • 64, 128, or 256GB of storage, no microSD slot
  • 16MP + 20MP Rear Camera (f/1.7, OIS, EIS, 4K) Finally, optical image stabilization
  • 16 Megapixel f/2.0 front-facing selfie camera
  • Android 8.1 Oreo (or Android P beta)
  • Rear fingerprint scanner, Fast Face Unlock, more
  • 3,300 mAh battery with fast Dash Charging
  • Daily Water-Resistance (whatever that means)
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack, BT 5.0, NFC, 4G LTE, alert slider
  • Mirror Black, Midnight Black, or Silk White color options

Pixel 2 XL Specs

  • 6-inch 2880 x 1440 Quad-HD OLED Display
  • Snapdragon 835 Processor with 4GB of RAM
  • 64/128GB storage options, no micro-SD slot
  • Android Oreo (or Android P beta)
  • 12.2 Megapixel Rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and OIS
  • 8MP front-facing camera
  • Dual Front-Facing Stereo Speakers
  • 3,520 mAh battery with Quick Charging
  • IP67 Dust & Water-Resistance
  • Google Assistant, Google Lens, more
  • USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner on the back
  • No 3.5mm headphone jack, no wireless charging

The OnePlus 6 has a bigger screen and more RAM, but that's about it. Yes, a few things are new, but both of these are great phones with excellent performance.

One potential area that is a concern is battery life. It has a big screen and a 3,300 mAh battery. Google's Pixel 2 XL has a smaller 6-inch screen and a bigger 3,520 mAh battery. If that's a big deal to you, keep that in mind.

These are probably two of the fastest phones in terms of software performance. You really can't go wrong with either. That said, one costs significantly more than the other.
