Plantronics RIG Gaming Headsets Dial in Dolby Atmos for Xbox One X
Great sound can make or break your gaming experience in many multiplayer games. While you can use any headset with a 3.5mm jack to listen on your Xbox One, you’ll hear the difference when you upgrade to something designed to deliver more. The new Plantronics RIG Gaming headsets offer something a little extra by including the code you need to turn on Dolby Atmos support for your Xbox One, Xbox One S or Xbox One X.
Plantronics includes the Dolby Access Code you need to unlock the upgraded audio in the box with the Plantronics RIG 400LX, RIG 600LX and the wireless RIG 800LX headphones. This normally costs $14.99, but is bundled with all of these headsets. Plantronics is working on new Dolby Atmos-enabled headsets to arrive later this year.
With Dolby Atmos, you’ll hear game audio in new ways that delivers a more precise location. While traditional surround sound places audio to the left, right front or back, Dolby Atmos can make your audio sound sweep around or sound like it is above you. With many first person shooters including jumping and attacks from above knowing exactly where your enemies are is a huge edge.
The new Plantronics RIG headsets include a code to unlock Dolby Atmos on the Xbox One.

We’ve experienced Dolby Atmos in a movie theater and it’s an amazing way to hear action movies. The current lineup of Xbox One games upmix the audio to Atmos, so the computer is filling in some of the information. This fall titles like Crackdown 3 and Gears fo War 4 will ship with Dolby Atmos audio baked right in and should deliver an even more immersive experience.
The Plantronics RIG 800LX is a wireless XBox One headset with 24-hour battery life. The headset uses 40mm drivers and uses voice feedback so you hear yourself while you are playing. The noise-cancelling microphone keeps your voice in the game and the other audio in the room out. Control the game and chat audio balance on your headphone and pick from four EQ settings to get the audio you need for the game you are playing.
The RIG 400LX and 600LX include an LX1 amplifier three EQ modes, earcup controls for audio and chat as well as an auxiliary port to connect to a phone or other device. You can use all of these Plantronics RIG headphones with the Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X and Windows 10. The Plantronics RIG 800LX is $149.99, RIG 600LX is $129.99 and the RIG 400LX is $99.99. The headsets are available this fall.
