Rise of the Tomb Raider Release: 5 Things to Know

The Rise of the Tomb Raider release is confirmed for 2015 and Microsoft is expected to offer new details in just a few short days at its E3 2015 press conference. With that in mind, here’s what you need to know about the Rise of the Tomb Raider release and release date ahead of E3.

In 2013, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released a new edition to the Tomb Raider series. The game, dubbed Tomb Raider, was initially released for the Xbox 360 and PS3 though a revamped Definitive Edition made its way to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in 2014.

Both the original and the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition received excellent reviews. So, it didn’t come as much of as a surprise when the two companies confirmed a new game later in 2014. That game is called Rise of the Tomb Raider and it will be set after the events of the first game.

Fans of the series are excited about the new installment and we’ve seen a number of important release details emerge in the year since the game was first announced. There is still plenty of mystery, sure, but we’ve seen the companies behind the game fill in several blanks ahead of its big reveal.

With E3 2015 just around the corner, and Rise of the Tomb Raider confirmed to be a part of the show, we want to take a look at five things we think prospective buyers need to know about the Rise of the Tomb Raider release before the start of E3. If you’re been following the game, this will refresh your memory. If you haven’t, this will bring you to speed.

Microsoft hasn't said what it will be revealing at the press conference though it's safe to assume that we'll get more detailed about the Rise of the Tomb Raider release date and gameplay details that the companies will use to sell the game to Xbox owners.

Microsoft's press conference will begin at 9:30AM PST on Monday, June 15th, and the company says that the entire show will last 90 minutes. We expect an action packed event that includes the new Tomb Raider, Forza 6, Gears of War, Halo 5, and more.
