Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Update Release Begins

Published

on

As expected, the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean roll out has begun as Samsung has reportedly started rolling out the software to not one, but two devices including the GT-N7100 and the GT-N7105. And now that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update roll out has begun, other devices should be getting the update in the weeks ahead.

For weeks now, Galaxy Note 2 users were wondering when their device would be getting the upgrade to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean, an update that promised a host of new features including Samsung KNOX, Galaxy Gear support and more. Samsung typically doesn’t announce release dates so users have characteristically been in the dark since the update was announced back in October.

Several leaks suggested that the update was indeed close and today, thanks to SamMobile, we now know that the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean release has begun though users in the United States are going to have to wait.

Samsung has started rolling out the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for the GT-N7100 in India and it also looks like users with the GT-7105, the LTE version of the Galaxy Note 2, are starting to see the roll out in Nordic countries. Usually, Samsung starts with one device so the fact that two devices are getting it at the same time is a good sign that the company is ready for a massive push ahead of the holidays.

December could bring the Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3 update release in some regions, with Galaxy Note 3 features.

It’s also a good sign for Galaxy Note 2 owners in the United States. Typically, the U.S. is a few days or weeks behind the curve so the fact that the update is rolling out now is a sign that we should see the update land for carriers in the U.S. in the coming weeks. Of course, there is also a chance that this update, like the others could see some problems.

Already, we’ve seen the Galaxy S3 Android 4.3 update halted in the United Kingdom and we’ve seen AT&T pull the Galaxy S4 Android 4.3 update which began rolling out last week. These don’t guarantee issues with the Galaxy Note 2 but it’s definitely not a good sign for users in the United States or elsewhere.

The Android 4.3 update represents the first major update for the Galaxy Note 2, a device that arrived back in September with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, one of the first devices to feature Google’s now ancient software.
