The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 pushes the boundaries of what you expect from a laptop with stylish carbon fiber and more portability than you’d expect from a notebook that can pack in up to a 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 GPU with Max-Q design GPU and up to 4TB of storage.

That’s not all, this notebook is ready for you to create and make things with the 15.6-inch 4K OLED display and optional X-Rite Pantone color calibration. When you’re done making the next big thing, the Nvidia GPU is ready to transition to gaming. The color calibration is optional, but if you work on video editing and other projects where color accuracy is of utmost importance this allows you to work anywhere and easily show a client what the finished product looks like. There is also an optional touch screen and Lenovo Pen Pro.

Ready for work and play, the new ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 is a powerhouse.

Lenovo offers four display options from an entry level option to three options with HDR and the top of the line OLED display. These include;

  • 15.6” 4K OLED HDR Touch
  • 15.6” 4K IPS AG HDR 400 (500nit)
  • 15.6” FHD IPS AG HDR 400 (500nit)
  • 15.6” FHD IPS AG (300nit)

You get up to 14 hours of battery life and you can charge from 0 to 80% in just 60 minutes on the charger. You get a full complement of ports, so you can leave the dongles and adapters at home. The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 includes 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports, 2 USB 3.1 ports and a SD card reader. You can dock it with a Thunderbolt 3 dock.

Security remains a big factor with an integrated fingerprint reader and IR Windows Hello camera as well as a dTPM chip for additional security. There is also a physical shutter to block the webcam and IR camera.

With a Carbon Fiber weave top cover you get good looks and a laptop that is designed to handle the abuses of travel and work. This is MIL-Spec tested to survive everyday spills, drops and bumps. While this is a powerhouse, it is only 3.76 pounds, which is less than the current MacBook Pro.

The ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 2 starts at $1,499 and is available from Lenovo in July.
