Verizon Galaxy Nexus Update Rolling Out Soon?

Owners of the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Nexus should be on the look out for a new update soon.

Over at XDA-forums, a user has posted what appears to be a prompt to install an update, IMM76Q, that claims to hold enhancements for the Verizon model of the Galaxy Nexus.

It’s a tiny update which has led Droid-Life to believe that it could have something to do with Samsung’s patent dispute with Apple that has led to the Galaxy Nexus getting pulled from the Google Play Store.

The update may do something to fix the Search functionality found on the Nexus which is at the core of Apple’s patent dispute with Samsung. Unfortunately though, it’s impossible to tell at this point.

It appears that the Galaxy Nexus will see a new update soon.

It also looks like this update might have just reached a tester phone and not the Galaxy Nexus of an average user. One look above the speaker grill reveals this to be the case.

So clearly, this update isn’t rolling out to the public just yet but it may be rolling out soon if everything goes well in testing.

The update will be the second update that Verizon will have rolled out to the Galaxy Nexus. The first update, Android 4.0.4, took five months to roll out.

When it finally did reach Galaxy Nexus owners, it squashed many of the bugs that they had encountered on the device since it launched in December.

Again, it’s unclear if this update will take care of any lingering issues on the device but those who are still experiencing issues should hope so.

Be on the look out Galaxy Nexus owners.

hi Adam,I own a Verizon/Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I’m on Android version 4.0.4. Do you know what the new version number will be,whether it’s or 4.5 or dare I say 4.1?

Frank, considering the size, I think the GNex will stay on 4.0.4

Do not accept this update if you use local search! It disables that feature!

Wow it’s amazing how fast they can pull together a patch when it serves their purposes, but ask them to put together a patch that makes the phone even remotely useable and it takes six months.
